Travis Touchdown (I)

This character had a major role in the NO MORE HEROES series and a minor role in the Silver Case series.

Biography

Travis lived in room 207 of the NO MORE HEROES MOTEL in Santa Destroy for the majority of his adult life, other than some time spent keeping a low profile in a Texas forest. His early life is not well documented. In his youth, he loved a girl named Jeane. His life was upended however by the murder of his parents. Many years later Travis had taken up residence at the NO MORE HEROES MOTEL.

After winning his own beam katana in an online auction, Travis was approached in a bar by Sylvia Christel, who encouraged him to enlist in the United Assassins Association and take on the country’s leading ranked assassins. Travis beheaded the assassin Death Metal in his home, however, Sylvia congratulated him with the revelation that he would need to continue climbing in rank, as he had now become a target for other assassins, eager to replace Travis in rank at the cost of his life. Travis was furious, but would let Sylvia‘s betrayal slide if she would sleep with him once he reached the top.

Travis ascended the UAA rankings while funding his entry fees for matches through two means of income: working a variety of honest jobs across Santa Destroy and operating as a contract killer for K-ENTERTAINMENT. Travis reveled in killing men as bloodthirsty as he was but struggled with putting down the ranked women he faced. First, he spared the eighth-ranked Shinobu Jacobs, albeit after slicing off her arm, then he hesitated to deal the final blow to sixth-ranked Holly Summers. Holly realized Travis’ reluctance stemmed down to her sex, and while she was touched by this, she ended their battle by placing a live grenade in her mouth, detonating her head. This sparked something sentimental in Travis. He buried Holly, then asked Sylvia for her name and nothing more.

Character connections

  • Travis’ unnamed parents were killed by Jeane years prior to NO MORE HEROES. Travis repressed this for the most part, with the exception of one night of drinking at the Death-Match Bar, where Sylvia Christel overheared him groaning, and hatched a plan to reunite Travis and Jeane via United Assassins Association Ranking Battles.
  • Travis’ paternal half-sister was Jeane, a connection he was completely unaware of until she revealed it to him during their showdown. Prior to this Travis considered her a long-lost love and named his cat in her memory. Jeane blamed their father for her own mother’s death, and following this he went on to abuse her. She studied martial arts in secret and killed their father, along with Travis’ mother, in revenge for her turmoil.
  • The manager of the JOB CENTER briefly acted as Travis’ employer while he funded his first UAA climb. Travis’ manager continually encouraged him to be more than a “third-rater,” although he mostly spoke cryptically and offered little constructive advice. He could be somewhat responsible, however, such as by providing scorpion venom antidote to Travis when he was stung on the job.
