Flower, Sun, and Rain had the working title Flower and Sun, however, SUDA51 felt the name was incomplete. After reading an interview with Ittoku Kishibe, he discovered the PYG song “FLOWER, SUN, RAIN” and borrowed the title after falling in love with the song. Despite wishes to include the song in the game, SUDA51 was unable to do so.
GRASSHOPPER MANUFACTURE held a giveaway contest celebrating the launch of Flower, Sun, and Rain. Participants were emailed a hint which had to be decoded using a Flash game based on Catherine. 526 winners were chosen. Most won the Flower, Sun, and Rain Invitation Disc, while 10 T-shirts for men and 10 for women, five soundtracks and one ZERO HALLIBURTON duralumin attache case were distributed to the luckiest winners.
